Author and political commentator Ret. Lt. Col. Oliver North told David Boze on Monday that the five Taliban leaders that President Barack Obama traded for potential deserter Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl are already back on the battlefield.

“These guys are already back in action,” North said.

Boze asked North about the Taliban leaders after recent comments by Secretary of State John Kerry saying that it’s “baloney” that they pose a threat to the U.S. Kerry reasoned that intelligence services would be able to track them to ensure they don’t engage in terror activities.

“We pretend we’re omniscient in intelligence, but we can’t even find a 777 that went down in the Indian Ocean,” North said. “The idea that we can spy on everyone, including American citizens, is nuts. These guys are already back in action.”

North came to fame in the 1980s due to his connection to the Iran-Contra affair. After he was exonerated, he embarked on a career as an author and radio host. His latest book “Counterfeit Lies” deals with international espionage involving North Korea, Hezbollah, and Iran’s attempts to acquire a nuclear weapon.
