Democrat Senator Blumenthal nearly hit by train at train safety press conference

By Neal McNamara | April 21, 2014

Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat, was at a train station in Milford, Conn., Monday morning talking about train safety when he almost got hit by a train.

In the video, Milford Mayor Ben Blake – also a Democrat – talks about commuter safety with Blumenthal standing nearby. As Blake talks, a speeding Amtrak train approaches and blowing Blumenthal back, and appearing to miss him by just a few inches. Watch the full video here.

Even more ironically, the Milford train station is just a few miles west of a spot where last year a Metro-North worker was hit and killed by a train; and a few miles east of where a train derailed last year between Stamford and Bridgeport.
